Welcome to the web site of the West Midlands Probation Area, part of the National Probation Service for England and Wales.

Since this site opened in May 2002, we have had thousands of visitors and hundreds of regular users. We aim to provide relevant information about how our work affects people here in the West Midlands, and keep you updated on a regular basis.

Our local emphasis is strengthened by the West Midlands Probation Board, whose non-executive Members are drawn from a wide cross section of experience and community interest, one local Judge and the Chief Officer. Details of the Board’s public meetings, agendas and minutes are all available in their section of the site.

With the announcement that the Probation and Prison Services are to become part of a new National Offender Management Service (NOMS), we face the biggest and most exciting challenges in our long history.
